virtual dance

Virtual〔http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/virtual〕 danceArts in Second Life〕 uses avatars moving via given tools of a virtual world.
This will be shown using the possibilities that are offered by the virtual world Second Life.
== Tools ==
Entering a virtual world you are invited to create an account and choose an avatar. This avatar moves by animations. Standard animations accompany the avatar. In addition, animations of all kinds are created〔Motion capture〕〔http://www.sinewavecompany.com/services/motion-capture-services/〕 by residents〔Culture of Second Life〕 of Second Life. All of these can override〔Method overriding〕 the given standard animations. Therefore, your avatar can use animations (to stand, to walk, to run, to swim, to fly...) which might be able to express a certain character or style you want to show.
Dance animations move avatars. A dance gesture consists of several ''animations'' and lasts usually between 20 and 30 seconds. Animations can be looped -- restarting automatically again and again until it is stopped. These animations can imitate nearly all dances known in real life like waltz, tango (dance), salsa (dance), funk, bebop, and even classical sequences like solos of Swan Lake by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky are available.〔http://www.nomasha.com/anims.html〕
== Synchronization ==

Synchronization may or may not be present in virtual dance. Synchronization can be either automated (for example, by a HUD (Heads-Up Display)) or done by individual dancing working on their own.
One form of virtual dance is ''live moving in free synchronization'' which is created by the independent use of animations by different dancers at the same time. A dancer will mix animations and override one by the other -- coordinating by sight their own movement with movement of other dancers in the group to express feelings and mood in virtual dance.〔http://www.la-performance.org/virtual-dance/ Virtual dance in Second Life〕〔Synchronization〕〔Improvisation
